Manual harvesting followed by traditional pureé fermentation in wooden vats for about 18 days, aging in barriques. Agé sur lie, meaning aging on fine lees, which releases the fine, soft aromas. The grape variety Pinot Noir is part of the Burgundy family. It is probably one of the earliest varieties selected from wild vines in West-Central Europe. Charles the Fat brought the variety to Lake Constance in 884. It was planted in the Rheingau in the 13th century. In the 16th century, it was likely also found in the Pfalz. The variety was supposedly brought to the Ahr from Burgundy in the 18th century. The variety experienced a boom 150 years ago with the expansion of sparkling wine production, for which pure Burgundy vineyards were planted. The terms "Pinot Noir" and in parts of Baden "Klevner" are used as synonyms.

Taste: powerful ruby red, intense bouquet of currants with a delicate vanilla tone. Velvety, full classic, smooth finish.
