Sauska Rosé Brut Traditional Method

Sauska is a relatively young winery, founded in 2006, and is the result of an unbridled passion for a beautiful product: Hungarian wine. What is special about Hungary is that different parts of the country produce different wines. For example, Tokaj in the east is particularly known for its white and dessert wines, produced from Furmint. Villány, in the south of the country, on the other hand, is known for its production of beautiful red wines. The uniqueness of Sauska is that they have a winery in three places: in Tokaj, in Villány, and in Budapest. The latter is where some of their sparkling wines are produced! A central theme at each winery and vineyard of Sauska is sustainability. For 15 years, they have had an important goal to protect and even enhance biodiversity in the vineyards. They plant various types of flowers and shrubs between the vines to encourage different insects and small animals to thrive. Weeds are kept at bay by laying a thick layer of straw between the vines, depriving them of light and preventing their growth. Since 2018, they have released Southdown Babydoll sheep in the vineyards. These mini sheep with short legs are a natural pest control: they keep the vegetation between the vines in check but are too small to reach the grapes! What is high, however, is their cuddliness factor.
