Potzinger Sauvignon Blanc Ried Czamillonberg

Description

Juicy, elegant, fine fruit sweetness, fine acidity.

Hints of tropical fruit, mango, blossom honey...

The Czamillonberg (Kamillenberg in German) is a steep south-facing slope, characterized on one hand by its topography and on the other by the opok soil—a limestone marl—formed from deposits of an ancient sea. The nearby Koralpe also influences this vineyard, with its Alpine influences such as snow on the peaks during the final ripening phase, giving this wine a very special cool, elegant tone. Also intriguing: Czamillonberg is mentioned in a document as one of the very first vineyards in Southern Styria. The Czamillonberg grapes are harvested in several rounds, often lasting up to 2 weeks. The wine matures in traditional, used 300-liter barrels on the fine lees (sur lie). Pairs well with: seafood and local fish, grilled, chicken, also very good with pasta. A universal dining companion. Wine description: "Medium yellow-green, silver reflections. Fine yellow hints of tropical fruit, some mango and blossom honey, underscored with nuances of ripe gooseberries, subtle spicy herbs. Juicy, elegant, fine fruit sweetness, fine acidity, some peach in the finish, mineral and well-adhering, has a very good aging potential, reminiscent of Chablis Grand Cru.
